Launa Ray Hobby – September 18, 1924 – October 20, 2017, Mrs. Hobby passed away October 20, 2017 at Washington County Extended Care Facility in Sandersville, Georgia where she had been resident for the past eleven years.  Mrs. Hobby was born in Wilcox County, Georgia to George Felton Ray and Alice Bertha Hamilton Ray.  As a young woman she was employed by J.A. Jones Construction Company as welder in the shipyards in Brunswick, Georgia during the Second World War.  Mrs. Hobby was a self- employed beautician in her home for over forty years.

Mrs. Hobby is preceded in death by her husband James F. Hobby, a daughter Beverly Ann Hobby, sisters Jessie Pitts, Oma Lee Woodard and brothers Robert and Earl Ray. 

She is survived by a sister Hazel Land of Fitzgerald, Georgia and her children James F. Hobby, Jr., Cynthia Hobby Brown, Gary Hobby (Anna Claire), grandchildren, James F. Hobby III (Peggy), Erica Ashley Carter (Chan), Michael Edward Brown, Cassie Arron Johnson (Hunter), Kelli Williamson (Blake), Kristin Rowland and  great grandchildren Henry Jacob Hobby, Jackson Carter, Gamble Williamson.

 Graveside service will be held at Westview Cemetery in Wrightsville, Georgia, Monday morning, October 23, 2017 at 11:00 A.M., where she will be laid to rest with her husband and daughter. Rev. Robert Rogers will be the officiating minister.

Pallbearers will be James F. Hobby, III, Henry Jacob Hobby, Michael Edward Brown, Chan Carter, Hunter Johnson and Donnie Defoe.
