Buford Kyle Stirling, Jr.

February 10, 1929 ~ May 12, 2018 (age 89)


Buford Kyle Stirling, Jr., 89 of Wrightsville, passed away at his residence, Saturday night, May 12, 2018 after an extended illness. Mr. Stirling was born in Birmingham, AL February 10, 1929 to the late Buford Kyle    Stirling, Sr. and Birdie Mae Wiggins Stirling. Mr. Stirling joined the U.S. Air Force where he served as a Medic in the 52nd Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict.

He was a Theater Director, he produced music and was a journalist. He graduated from High Point University College in High Point, NC and received his BA Degree in Communications, he then attended the University of Florida and received is Masters Degree. He also attended Shorter University and Calhoun University. He retired as a College Professor with Chapel Hill University of North Carolina and also taught and retired at Washington County Technical College. He was recognized from numerous movie films he had directed and creative works.

He had lived in Johnson County for the past 14 years, prior to that he lived in Dublin. He was Christian by faith.

Mr. Stirling was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Memorial services will be held in the chapel of Brantley Funeral Home, Saturday afternoon, May 19, 2018 at 1:00P.M. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Rev. Bob Williams will be the officiating minister.

Mr. Stirling is survived by his wife, Traci Oliver Stirling of Wrightsville; one son, Skyler Stirling of Wrightsville, three children from his previous wife, Jahala; two sons, Kyle Stirling, III, and David Stirling; one daughter, Jennifer Stirling; one brother, Larry Stirling; two sisters, Faye Stirling and Margaret Stirling, four grandchildren, Austin, Jessie, Max, and Andy, numerous nieces and nephews.

Brantley Funeral Home of Wrightsville has charge of arrangements.
