MACON, GA.

William Brek Barker, 61, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 12, 2018 in Macon, GA. Brek was born in Clayton, GA to the late Robert Edward Barker and Shirley Cannon Barker. After moving to Jekyll Island, GA and Gulf Breeze FL, his family returned to Clayton, where he graduated from Rabun County High School in 1974. He received his undergraduate degree at The University of Georgia, and then received a law degree from Walter F. George School of Law, Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. He has been a practicing attorney for 37 years.

Brek loved to sing and enjoyed playing the guitar. He also enjoyed each year planting and growing a garden, especially black-eyed peas. He very much enjoyed his years serving as little league coach in Clayton, and later singing to residents in nursing homes in Macon. He knew no strangers and enjoyed talking to everyone he met, but most of all, he enjoyed his three children. Left to lovingly remember Brek are his two sons, Matthew Barker and Billy Barker and his daughter Deas Barker; his siblings, Scott Barker (Lezlie), Storie Miller (Denny), and a number of cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be January 27th at 2pm at the Clayton United Methodist Church.Pastors Warren Huddleston of Prospect United Methodist Church in Covington, GA and Tim Bagwell of Centenary Church in Macon, GA will preside over the service. There will be a private burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to Bethel Cemetery in Tiger, GA or the charity of your choice.
