Bessie Lee Wombles 81 of Wrightsville entered into eternal rest, Saturday morning, April 15, 2017 after an extended illness at Wrightsville Manor Nursing Home. A native of Johnson County, Mrs. Wombles was born in Emanuel County, May 4, 1935 to the late Sylvester Augustus and Barnie Mae Price Duncan. Mrs. Wombles was a seamstress with Apparelbrand, Inc of Wrightsville for many years. Mrs. Wombles was a member of Gum Log Primitive Baptist Church.

Mrs. Wombles was preceded in death by her husband, James Willie Wombles; one daughter, Martha Nell Wombles; two brothers, Donnie Duncan and Gordon Duncan; two sisters, Mary Butler and Carrie Mae Newsome.

Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Wombles at Gum Log Primitive Baptist Church near Kite, Tuesday afternoon, April 18, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. L.T. Logue and Charles Parrish will be the officiating ministers.

Mrs. Wombles is survived by one son, James Todd Wombles (Teresa) of Wrightsville; one daughter, Joyce Ann Brantley of Wrightsville; one brother, Charlie Mincey (Marandy) of Baxley; one sister, Claudia Courson (William) also of Baxley, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Brantley Funeral Home Monday night, April 17, 2017 from 6 to 8 P.M.

Brantley Funeral Home of Wrightsville has charge of arrangements for Bessie Lee Wombles.
